DRAGON DRAW
What is Dragon Draw? Dragon Draw is DECA's newest feature for DragonVale. It functions as a lottery system in which players put shards towards the completion of a draw. Anyone who contributes shards has a chance of winning the dragon. You must purchase the Summoning Circle in order to play Dragon Draw. Click here to enter the forum thread for discussion and questions about Dragon Draw! Dragon Draw unlocks at level 11, at which point you will be prompted to begin a tutorial. Once you've purchased the Summoning Circle building (from said tutorial) you will be able to enter Dragon Draw by clicking the "Open" button from the building menu. Shards are collected (more on those later!) and contributed towards dragons for a chance at winning the dragon. Shards are a brand-new currency introduced specifically for the purpose of Dragon Draw. They are used for entering draws from the Dragon Draw menu. They are obtainable for free daily from clicking on the Dragon Draw building and then tapping "Collect" (see below) and can also be bought with real-world money. In terms of the amount of shards you get for free daily, it is scaled by weeks since you obtained the building: There is also a limit as to how many shards you can have in your inventory - barring in-app purchases, the most you can hold is 50 shards. You will be unable to collect shards until you spend some of the ones in your inventory. A draw is essentially the lottery for the dragon you enter- if you put shards towards Iden, you entered the Iden draw. You can enter a draw by clicking on "Open" from the Summoning Circle and then clicking the "Add" button next to the dragon's name (pictured below). Make sure to click on the right button! You'd surely hate to give shards to a Bouldershock dragon (no offense to Bouldershock!) when you intended to give shards to a Pixie dragon. If you've contributed shards towards a dragon, the "Add" button will have a Soul Shard icon on it. If the "Add" button is greyed out, that means that the draw is yet to start (within a waiting period of two minutes) or that the draw has been completed (this instance will also include a filled bar). You can't enter a completed draw or a draw that hasn't begun. The bar for the dragon will make note of completed and soon-to-come draws. If the draw fails to complete, you will be returned the Soul Shards you contributed free-of-charge in the Social Giftmenu. If you really want, say, a Panlong dragon, but there's not an open draw for it, you can vote for any dragon you want to eventually be available! There's no limit to the amount of dragons you can vote for, and you can only vote once until the dragon becomes available in Dragon Draw. In the below picture, you can see that I voted for the Djinni dragon. This menu is accessible after clicking "Open" after tapping on the Summoning Circle. You can even search for your favorite dragon within the voting menu! Keep in mind that dragons from the two newest events will not be available in Dragon Draw until the launch of another event. From the main interface, you can also see completed draws. From this menu, you can see the past available dragons and the winners for each respective dragon. You can also click on "Dragon Draws Won" to see any draws you've personally won. That's the thing here - there's nothing you can do skill-wise that will boost your chances of winning. It's literally a lottery; you can put more shards toward a dragon for a better chance at winning, but nothing is guaranteed. So when you spend 50 shards to win a Lunar Eclipse dragon four times (nothing personal, I swear), there's nothing you can do except say, "Oh well, I can try again next time." Or you can choose to not participate at all - there's almost no benefit in gameplay that this offers except a chance at one free dragon. No one's forcing you to participate! First off, you'll win the exact type of dragon you contributed shards towards - if you tried for Iden and won, you'll get an Iden dragon. Simple enough. But you can't get a traited, twinned, or twin-traited dragon from this. You can only get normal copies. Note that the dragon, if won, is delivered as an egg in your Social Gifts menu - it still has to be hatched! Dragon Draw is a little feature that doesn't affect gameplay whatsoever but provides a small chance to win a dragon you want.
