Well, a very delayed, but in the end, a very close match.

India can be proud of their fightback. Pakistan will be bitterly disappointed with that result.

As we bid you farewell, you can read Timothy Abraham's match report in full here.

We will back tomorrow for live coverage of South Africa v Bangladesh in New York.

  2. 'We'll look at our last two matches and discuss our mistakes'published at 21:03 9 June

    21:03 9 June

Pakistan captain Babar Azam: "We bowled well. At the halfway stage when batting we wanted to keep it simple, how we normally play. There was a period where we had too many dot balls, then the pressure was on."

"We didn't capitalise properly and made the same mistakes in the last overs."

"We need to win big, looking forward we'll look at our last two matches, discuss our mistakes."

  3. 'Our never say die attitude got us through'published at 20:57 9 June

    20:57 9 June

India captain Rohit Sharma: "I think we didn't bat well enough. Halfway through when we were batting, we were in a good position, 80-3, you'd expect guys to stitch the partnerships. We didn't we fell short, we were 15 runs short. We looked at 140 but the bowlers did the job.

"There was enough in the pitch, it was a good wicket. Hence we thought 130/140 was a good target and with our bowling line-up, you feel confident. It is the never say die attitude in the team. We wanted to make early in roads and they did. We said if things can happen to us, it can happen to them.

"You need everyone to show up and a little contribution for everyone makes a big difference and we did that."

On Jasprit Bumrah: "He's going from strength to strength, we all know what he can do with the ball. We want him to be in that mindset for the whole World Cup, he's a genius with the ball. Everyone who had the ball did a good job.

On the crowd: "There is no doubt about it, the crowd was superb. They never disappoint, wherever we play in the world. They always come out in huge support. It is just the start of the tournament, we have a long way to go."

The Pakistan supporters have drained out of Edgbaston, but its twice as loud as it was.

For India - the party has started here, and I cant see it stopping any time soon. Its been deafening for the last half an hour - their side showed off their quality, and now those who are left are showing off their moves…

We knew at the halfway stage that it wouldn't be easy.

India clawed their way back in, it looked like Pakistan were going to walk it at one point.

  8. India beat Pakistan by six runspublished at 20:41 9 June

    20:41 9 JuneBreaking

Naseem Shah came out swinging and did what he could, but Pakistan's middle order really let them down for what should have been a comfortable chase.

India win by six runs, a game where for a good chunk of it, it was Pakistan's to lose, and they did lose.

The final over of India's innings, Pakistan gifted them a few easy runs and they look to be very pivotal right now.

India are two wins from two, Pakistan have lost twice.

With the United States also winning twice already, Pakistan's hopes of reaching the Super 8s look very slim.

    Imad c Pant b Arshdeep 15 (Pak 102-7) Target 120

A weird minute or so results in Imad being dismissed after a umpire review.

Nobody initially appealed, it looked like Imad missed the shot, ran a single and Arshdeep missed a run out attempt on Imad at the non-striker's end.

Upon review, there was a slight edge off the bat of Imad and wicketkeeper Pant takes the catch.
